HISTORY AND MAPS
Experiencing a travel destination is intensified living—the thrill of
freedom, exploration and adventure, its rich history and significance
give us a sense of discovery – being there and being real - and we need
it, Sometimes they surprise us.
Thoughtful travel
engages us with the world.
Affording travel is a matter of priorities. In many ways,
spending more money like travelling with tour group whilst providing a
sense of comfort, efficiency and maximum speed, sometimes builds thick
wall between you and what you came to see. Time after time, you'll find
that its best acts are free and the best seats are the cheap ones.
A tight budget forces you to travel close to the ground,
meeting and communicating with the people. Never sacrifice sleep,
nutrition, safety, or cleanliness to save money. Simply enjoy the
local-style alternatives to expensive hotels and restaurants.
Connecting with people carbonates your experience.
Extroverts have more fun. If your trip is low on magic moments, kick
yourself and make things happen. If you don't enjoy a place, maybe you
don't know enough about it. Seek the truth. Recognize tourist traps.
Give a culture the benefit of your open mind. See things as different
but not better or worse. Any culture has much to share.
Of
course, travel, like the world, is a series of hills and valleys.Be
fanatically positive and militantly optimistic. If something's not to
your liking, change your liking.Travel
can make you happier, and a citizen of the world.
Our Earth is home to
seven billion equally precious people. It's humbling to travel and find
that people quite unlike ourselves - they have their own dreams, their
struggles and their stories to tell.
In tough economic
times, it reminds us what is truly important.
By broadening
perspectives, travel teaches us new ways to measure quality of life. Globe-trotting
destroys ethnocentricity, helping us understand and appreciate other
cultures. Rather than fear the diversity on this planet, celebrate it.
Among your most prized souvenirs will be the strands of different
cultures you choose to knit into your own character.
The world is a
cultural yarn shop, and travelers are weaving the ultimate
tapestry. Join in!

Drive to the little town of
Oswiecim - to
visit the concentration camps at Auschwitz. It is here
that we stand witness to the terror that griped the hearts of many
during WWII at the Auschwitz Concentration Camp. Atrocities that
Nazis committed towards the Jews were unveiled before your very own
eyes.
Oświęcim: Visit Auschwitz
Concentration Camp (admission included), operated in areas of Poland
that were annexed by Nazi Germany during World War II. The fortified
walls, barbed wire, platforms, barracks, gallows, gas chambers and
cremation ovens show the conditions within which the Nazi genocide
took place in the former concentration and extermination camp, the
largest in the Third Reich. According to historical investigations,
1.5 million people, among them a great number of Jews, were
systematically starved, tortured and murdered in this camp, the
symbol of humanity's cruelty to its fellow human beings in the 20th
century.

En route - Cesky Krumlov:
The southwestern castle city of Cesky Krumlov is one of the Czech
Republic’s finest mediaeval sites. Its Old Town is a
UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site, a maze of twisting alleys
built around the extensive Cesky Krumlov castle. Stroll through
crooked, cobblestone streets on foot and soak up the atmosphere of
this impeccably preserved medieval gem above the Vltava River, an
old town square, with Renaissance and baroque architecture.
Cesky
Krumlov
Cesky Krumlovis a
beautiful town of 13,300 inhabitants located in Southern Bohemia in
the Czech Republic. Like Prague, the town is situated on the Vltava
River and is full of Baroque buildings housing cafes and bars,
features a spectacular castle (the second largest in the Czech
Republic), and an old-town square. The town's appearance is little
changed since the 18th century and the buildings have been well
maintained and restored. In 1992 Cesky Krumlov was added to the
UNESCO World Heritage List. The town is very popular among tourists,
who outnumber the local population in the summer

the story that took place in the small synagogue

Hoan Kiem Lake
According to the legend, in early 1428, Emperor Lę
Lợi was
boating on the lake when a Golden Turtle God (Kim
Qui)
surfaced and asked for his magic sword, Heaven's
Will.
Lợi concluded that Kim
Qui had
come to reclaim the sword that its master, a local God, the Dragon King
(Long
Vương)
had given Lợi some time earlier, during his revolt against Ming
China.
Later, the Emperor gave the sword back to the turtle after he finished
fighting off the Chinese. Emperor Lợi renamed the lake to commemorate
this event, from its former name Luc
Thuy meaning
"Green Water". The Turtle Tower (Tháp
Růa)
standing on a small island near the centre of lake is linked to the
legend. The first name of Hoŕn Kiếm lake is Tả Vọng, when the King
hadn't given the Magical Sword back to the Golden Turtle God (Cụ Růa).

Sapa
Sa Pa (or Sapa, is a frontier township and capital of
Sa Pa District in
Lŕo Cai Province in north-west
Vietnam.
It is one of the main market towns in the area, where several ethnic
minority groups such as
Hmong,
Dao (Yao),
Giáy,
Pho Lu, and
Tay live.
Sa Pa is a frontier township and capital of Sa Pa District in Lŕo Cai
Province in north-west Vietnam. It was first inhabited by people about
whom nothing is known. They left in the entire valley hundreds of
petroglyphs, mostly composed of lines, which experts think date from the
15th century and represent local
cadastres. Then came the highland minorities of the
Hmong and
Yao. The township is one of the main market ones in the area, where
several ethnic minority groups such as Hmong, Dao (Yao), Giáy, Pho Lu,
and
Tŕy live. These are the four main minority groups still present in
Sa Pa district today. The Kinh (lowland Vietnamese) never originally
colonised this highest of Việt Nam’s valleys, which lies in the shadow
of
Phan-Xi-Pǎng
(Fansipan, 3143 m), the highest peak in the country.[1]
The Hoang Lien Mountains lie at the south-eastern extent of the
Himalayan chain. The national park is located on the north-east flank of
these mountains and includes Vietnam's highest peak, Fansipan, at 3,143
m (see map). The lowest point is 380 m but most of the national park
lies above 1,000 m. The flanks of the mountains are very steep and many
areas are almost inaccessible on foot. Between Fansipan Mountain and Sa
Pa town, lies the Muong Hoa valley, which has been terraced for wet rice
agriculture. This valley becomes wider towards the east of the national
park.
Sa Pa is also home to more than 200 pieces of boulders with ancient
engravings. The "Area of Old Carved Stone in Sapa" has been in the
UNESCO
tentative list since 1997.[2]

Cát Bŕ Island is the largest of the 367 islands
spanning 260 km2 (100 sq mi) that comprise the Cat Ba
Archipelago, which makes up the southeastern edge of Lan
Ha Bay in Northern Vietnam. Cat Ba island has a surface
area of 285 km2 (110 sq mi) and maintains the dramatic
and rugged features of Ha Long Bay. It is commonly used
as an overnight hotel stop on tours to Ha Long Bay run
by travel agents from Hanoi. This island belongs to
Haiphong city.
Cat Ba is the largest island in the Bay and
approximately half of its area is covered by a National
Park, which is home to the highly endangered Cat Ba
langur. The island has a wide variety of natural
ecosystems, both marine and terrestrial, leading to
incredibly high rates of biodiversity. Types of natural
habitats found on Cat Ba Archipelago include limestone
karsts, tropical limestone forests, coral reefs,
mangrove and sea grass beds, lagoons, beaches, caves and
willow swamp forests.
Cat Ba Island is one of the only populated islands in
Ha Long Bay, with roughly 13,000 inhabitants living in
six different communes, and 4,000 more inhabitants
living on floating fishing villages off the coast. The
large majority of the population can be found in Cat Ba
town, which is located at the southern tip of the Island
(15 km (9 mi) south of the national park) and is the
commercial center on the Island. Since 1997, Cat Ba town
has grown rapidly and has become a tourist hub for both

and Foreigner@100K –Total about Rp 490K. I bought a mountain beanie at 25K and
we have a sip of hot coffee in the holding areas before we start off,
We could not see blue fire as the trek down was closed.
We take some beautiful pics at the top and sunrise was cloudy.
Bought a piece of sulphur for sovenier Rp 50K.
It was a long trek up and steep trek down – I walked backwards on way down to
ease the knee.
Then we went to misty forest. And do lunch
Then we proceed to Sukamade-for turtle laying eggs ritual- and release of
turtles the next day.
Upon arrival of bad news- no more homestay hotels left – and we have to go thru
2 hrs of forests and river crossing
The homestay was badly organised and we end up in kampong in the Desa in
villager home with no aircon and low roof bathroom – Food provided Wayu the head
security of village. The dinner with Parkies and BF with Kelor soup.
The story of Green turtles is quite interesting as the baby turtles will become
adults up to 80cm to 1 m and come back to lay eggs. They have program to
collect the eggs and put in hatchery – takes 2 months.
Firstly we have to drive about 20 mins to the turtle center. At about 8 pm – arm
with torches, we walk in groups via the tracks towards the beach. It was in
total darkness as we walk along the shore to identify the turtle tracks up to
about 100 m inland. Until the turtle has set up the site and dig the hole and
start laying eggs – we cannot on the lights. Each time they lay about 100 +
eggs. Also we have to stay behind the turtle so as not to distract them. The
ranger will dig lower to collect the soft shell turtle eggs.

After breakfast at Satpam Wahyu house- we start off to the turtle center and
collect our pails of turtle. We follow the same tack towards the beach in
daylight- and start to release the turtle – of course the baby turles all
respond differently – start side ways towards the sun, pause to sense the
location so they can come back years from now.
On the way back out of the forest- another difficult drive through forestry
roads and potholes we stop by Green Bay Teluk Ijo and enjoy a nice beach walk
and collected some reddish, greyish and greenish stones. We took some nice pics
up the cliff like formation with waves below and expanse of river stones beach.
It was probably only 800 m and short beach.
Thereafter we continue our long drive stopped for lunch at Padang Minang food
120K , then proceed to Lumajung along Yudobundo river. We are moving up from
south Sukamade side to wards Lumajung further up to our next destination of

is totally devastated and not passable by normal car. We took a long drive.
By the time we reached it, it was pass 8 Pm and we have to request for POP mee

darkness. The motor ride was pretty scary as the terrain was very rough and
rocky and often on slopes hugging the hill side overlooking the slopes of
plantation.
From P30 we have a nice view of Bromo- and was above the clouds.
Then we move down to B29.
Back to Hotel Glagah Arum for BF before we depart for next stop Tumpak Sewu Rest

Next we proceed to Songa for water rafting – I think Budi. 4pax@310K + 250K for

1700-1800 Dinner- Bakso Arief
Today we challenged Tumpak Sewu @ 30K x4 + Rp 250K for guide.
Our first stop was to take a pic from the top- before proceeding downwards along
terrain and water edges and crossing over simple trellis bridges over some
rapids, until Coban Sewu. At some areas we are actually crossing through the
waterfalls downflow of waters and at other spots – we wade through- or climb up
the rocks and trek until we reach the iconic photo spots – and looking backwards
– we saw rainbows below.
On the way back- we side track and climb up the watrefalls to Goa Tetes – an old
cave with dripping water and we stand in submerged waters inside the cave, and
